Ghost Friends May 2025 Devlog

Oooohh boy! It sure has been a while again, hasn't it? (hey, at least it's been UNDER a year this time okay)

Last devlog, I introduced the new protagonist Null, and how I needed to re-write and re-code a whole lot of the game. I also said how that could take a very long time. turns out that was... kind of right? Because it's not that the game is talking a long time to work on... is that I haven't been working on it since...

A mix of college, YouTube, and a general lack of motivation has all made it very difficult to pick this game back up, to the point of forgetting that I should be working on it at all. It seems like the Ghoster franchise is doomed after all...

...Is what I thought. If you didn't know, I'm currently focusing a lot of my time and energy on streaming on YouTube, and somehow one of my chatters (you know who you are...) managed to find the Ghoster collection and WOULD NOT STOP asking me to stream them. so, I did, just as a joke really, for old times’ sake...

And it was actually really fun! In fact, after that stream, I decided to send the entire unfinished, but still playable, Ghoster & Friends to one of my friends who then played the whole thing on voice call. In fact, let’s ask him a few words of what he thought about the game!

In all seriousness, turns out having someone just play through the game and genuinely enjoy it, enough to want to see the game get completed, was enough to make ME want to see the game completed again too! 

NEW NAME

If you missed it, this game has a slightly different name now! Instead of Ghoster & Friends, it’s now Ghost Friends.

NEW PROGRESS?

As I’ve only just started working again, I don’t really have any new spoiler-free progress to show, but I do have this cute sprite of Null that was supposed to just be a sketch before I got carried away with it!

OLD GAME UPDATES

With the popularity that old Ghoster games have been getting, I decided to revisit them to optimize the code, fix any typos, ect… (mostly because the old code for those games was a MESS, I had no idea what I was doing back then lmao) Most importantly, Ghoster 3 has a brand new secret ending for you to find, which was actually something I tried including way back when I first made it, but had to remove because I couldn’t figure out how to get the code to work. Until now… ehehehe.........

NEW SONG TEASER

About a week ago, I asked the members of the PheeblesGames Discord to vote on what new character theme they would like to be teased, and Spectey one by a landslide. So as promised, here it is:

Well, I think that’s all there is for now. Will new next update be in a few months or in a few years? Who knows at this point! Hahaha… ha......... hm.
